Lot & Garonne, Holiday House

What's the area like?

Set amongst the rolling hills of 'The Larder of France', this is a great spot to spend time. Whether you enjoy the traditionally relaxed lifestyle of local markets and lazy lunches or a more active time canoeing, golfing or sightseeing. The Bread Oven is a great base for all sorts of holiday!

The Bread Oven at Gigan is just 4km south of the small town of Tombeboeuf.

Tombeboeuf offers everything you need for day to day life, with a Boulangerie, butcher, local shop (selling just about everything), Pharmacy and local restaurant. The town has the added benefit of a 9 hole golf course and a picturesque lake for walks and fishing.

Slightly further afield, to the south, is the town of Villeneuve-sur-lot. This is a traditional basitde town with a bustling centre and a good selection of shops and cafes.

There are also two Hypermarches near Villeneuve, plus several smaller supermarkets in many of the local towns.

The region is bristling with Bastide towns - all different and offering much to interest the tourist. Most notable and within a short drive are Eymet, Monflanquin, Penne d'Agenais and Pujols.

The River Lot is about 15 minutes drive south and during the summer boats and canoes can be hired at Castelmoron-sur-lot and further afield on the rivers Dordogne and Garonne.

Restaurants are a plenty, from a simple cafe meal to the very best in dining. Information on these is in the Information Pack.

Just to the north is the Bergerac wine region with it's abundance of vineyards and some great wines. Suggestions for winetasting tours are included in the information pack.

Bergerac, itself, is well worth a visit, a great town with museums, good shopping and some memorable restaurants.

During the July & August several of our local towns have Night Markets. These are great fun, with trestle tables set out under the stars, locals and tourists eat together choosing their meals from the stalls set up by local producers - you can choose your wine, starters, mains and puds all from different stalls. A must for anyone visiting the area!
